CPO Approved JHSC Refresher

JHSC Refresher Training-CPO Approved (PRO-34603)

Course Duration: Refresher 6.5 hr

Certificate valid for 3 years

• JHSC Refresher Training is required every 3 years under the 2016 standards

• Refresher Training provides a review of key concepts of the JHSC Parts 1 & 2 training courses, updates to legislation standards, codes of practice and occupational health and safety best practices

• Workers who were certified under the old standard (prior to March 1, 2016) are not required to complete JHSC Refresher Training but they can participate in Refresher Training

• JHSC Refresher Training can be completed 1 day

• Workers must complete Refresher Training prior to the expiry date indicated on their certification card

Algonquin Safety Training is an approved Training provider by the Chief Prevention Officer. Part 1 Provides an overall knowledge of health and safety that applies to all workplaces. A joint health and safety committee (JHSC) is composed of worker and employer representatives. Committees identify potential health and safety issues. This course is specific to workplace sectors: health care, industry, construction and Industry.

This course is for people who have successfully completed the Working at Heights (CPO approved) training program. Algonquin Safety Training Inc. has been approved by the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development’s Chief Prevention Officer as meeting the working at heights training program and provider standards.

CPO Approved Working at Heights Training

As of April 1, 2015, employers must ensure that certain workers complete a working at heights training program that has been approved by the Chief Prevention Officer and delivered by an approved training provider before they can work at heights.

The training requirement is for workers on construction projects who use any of the following methods of fall protection:

Travel Restraint Systems
Fall Restricting Systems
Fall Arrest Systems
Safety Nets
Ladders and Scaffolds

Fall protection is a series of reasonable steps taken to cause elimination or control of the injurious effects of an unintentional fall while accessing or working at heights.

Prerequisites:

None

Course Information:

Explaining the use and limitations of a limited range of fall arrest equipment and fall arrest plan
Inspecting, assembling and storing fall arrest equipment
Selecting suitable anchor points
Proper use of rope grabs
Understanding all aspects of the emergency plan
Understanding hazards in the work place
Using fall arrest systems with a single lanyard and double lanyard
Using pre-installed vertical and horizontal life lines
Hierarchy of controls
Rights and Responsibilities
